About CHPA

The Consumer Healthcare Products Associatin (CHPA), founded in 1881, is a member-based association representing the leading manufacturers and distributors of nonprescription, over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and nutritional supplements. Many CHPA member products provide millions of Americans with safe, effective, and convenient therapies for the treatment and prevention of many common aliments and diseases.

The leading makers of OTC cough medicines are members of CHPA and direct the association’s efforts to stop the abuse of their products. These efforts include working with the Partnership for a Drug-Free America on public-service announcements and bilingual educational materials, and the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America on a toolkit for community leaders. CHPA is also working with D.A.R.E. America to incorporate information about cough medicine abuse into its school cirricula. The Five Moms Campaign takes these awareness-building and educational efforts to a new level.

CHPA and its members are committed to providing medicines that promote health and the well-being of consumers and to stopping cough medicine abuse.
